Mint
Mint is a popular herb that can be used fresh or dried in many dishes and infusions. Different types of plants offer a range of antioxidant qualities and potential health benefits. Mint is fruitful in almost any dish such as; dessert, tea, soup, meat marinade and many more. This herb is very fragrant with toothed leaves and tiny purple, pink or white flowers.
In many herb gardens, mint is a summer staple.
Below are a few things to do with your abundant supply of fresh mint:
- Make tea.
- Refreshing ice cubes.
- Chocolate dipped leaves.
- Watermelon salad.
- Cocktails.
- Chickpea, barley and zucchini ribbon salad.
Mint thrives in moist but well-drained soil, something like their native habitat along stream banks. Most will grow in the sun or partial shade, growing best at temperatures of 17°-30°. This herb will sprout within 7-21 days and can be harvested in 5-12 weeks.
You may harvest the leaves at any size by pinching off the stems. If you’d like to harvest the whole plant, cut just above the first or second set of leaves. In this process, you will remove the yellowing lower leaves and promote bushier growth.
