We are living in the 21st Century yet we are still testing on animals, why? Animals are used as the foundation to all new drug experiments or chemical trialing to make sure the products are safe for human consumption or needs. Did you know that over 100 million animals are either burned, crippled or poisoned in US lab experiments every year? Sadly only 3% of these animals survive these harsh experiments!
Have you watched the Save Ralph Campaign Video?
An anti-animal cruelty foundation, Humane Society International (HSI), created a short film that has since gone viral called ‘Save Ralph’. The aim of this short film is to shed light on the issue that is often overlooked, animal testing. The film tells the story of Ralph, a bruised and battered bunny, who is being interviewed for a documentary as he goes through his daily routine as a “tester” in a lab. One of the quotes that stood out of me when reading the article on this very important documentary was “It’s so important that Ralph feels real because he represents countless real animals who suffer every day.”
‘Save Ralph’ has touched the hearts of millions as the stop-motion animation story pulls on your heart strings. You simply cannot watch and not feel awful for Ralph and his buddies as they continuously get poked and prodded with needles. If you have not seen the short film yet, please do.
Can you believe that SA is the largest cosmetics market on the continent, where animal testing for cosmetics is still legal?! “We need your help to urge the South African government to make this a priority issue and to agree on measures to ban cosmetic animal testing and trade throughout the country,” said the Humane Society International. My South African community, we have work to do – we all need to make the conscious decision to do our part in creating positive change to this reality in our country.
Do you research brands before you purchase and use them?
More often that not, we buy products in a rush without thinking about how our purchasing habits are effecting the environment. We don’t stop to think, how was this product made? Was it tested on animals? Is there another substitute sustainable product that that I can rather choose to purchase?
Therefore this blog serves as encouragement for you all to check the products you use or the brands you purchase from and please do not support them if they test on animals. All the Microgarden products are ethically sourced and manufactured and we can proudly say we do not test on animals. Our latest products which are completely cruelty free and Vegan are our dental floss and Bamboo Earbuds.
