Composting during LOAD SHEDDING using the kitchen composter?

Your composter will complete a full cycle within 5-7 hours depending on whats in the bucket.

HOWEVER, 4 HOURS SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT AND HERE IS WHY:
The drying and grinding cycles both take between 2-3 hours to complete.
After 4 hours your food waste should be dry and sufficiently broken down (depending on the contents of the bucket).
If after 4 hours you find the food waste still a bit wet and sticky you would need to pop it on again.

It is not necessary for the machine to run the cooling cycle, the contents can cool down on their own.
SO YOU MIGHT BE LUCKY AND GET AWAY WITH ONE SHORT CYCLE.
WORST CASE: YOU WOULD NEED TO RUN 2 SHORT CYCLES TO GET YOUR PRE-COMPOST OUTPUT.

If I open the lid or the kitchen composter stops or is unplugged in the middle
of running, is it hot? What do I do to start the kitchen composter up again?

Bucket and contents will be hot CAUTION DO NOT TOUCH! There may be
some steam so STAND BACK. To restart, close the lid and press ON. It starts
the whole cycle again but will still process the waste. The cycle might take
a shorter time with half processed waste. Composter will not start again if
contents are too hot, you might need to allow for the composter to cool for
10 min before starting again.

Can I run a half load? How full is the minimum and maximum for kitchen composter?

You can run a load as small as you want. The composter will run with low
content capacity, however, the cycle may complete faster .DO NOT RUN
EMPTY. Do not fill the bucket more than 75% full..

What does it mean if the “Dry” and “Grind” buttons flashon kitchen composter ?

Blade is jammed from pieces of food that are too big, long fibers in food or
too much food in the bucket.
YOU WILL NEED TO CLEAR THE ERROR – Turn the composter off, unplug
the composter . Carefully remove the food that is causing the jam.
CAUTION Contents might be hot.
Once removed close lid, plug in composter, once the composter has
sufficiently cooled you can start a cycle once again.

What does it mean if the “Grind” and “Cooling” buttons flashon kitchen composter ?

The process was interupted by opening the bucket or by the power being
cut off.
When trying to restart The “Grind” and Cooling” buttons will flash. You can
not reset this error . To reset the content needs to cool down .When the
content is at room temperture you can start the process again.

Can my kitchen composter sit with unprocessed waste for a few days
while I fill it? Will it smell?

A few days are ok. We do not recommend leaving waste for longer than a
week. Filter odour control is not active while the composter is not running,
so you might smell it. We recommend running a smaller cycle if you can so
that you are not leaving waste in there for too long.

What does it mean if the ON/OFF and UV light flash on kitchen composter?

The full cycle is finished and the machine is now in Storage Mode , this
mode makes sure the contents of the bucket stay hygienic; it will run the
UV light very 15 min (using minimal energy) till you open the lid.

What do I do if I accidently start a cycle of the kitchen composter?

Either immediately open the lid as this should stop the cycle OR reset by
holding down the ON/OFF button as below for more then > 3 Seconds.

How long does it take to complete a cycle of kitchen composter?

Between 5 – 7 hours, depending on what is in the bucket.

Can I put cooked food in the kitchen composter

Yes, you can, cooked food as well as small soft bones, meat scraps, eggshells, coffee grounds and so much more.

How does the kitchen composter work?

The composter is electrical, once you have filled your bucket with food waste you simply close the lid and turn it on. Composting has never been easier. The food goes through 3 cycles a Drying / Grinding & Cooling and UV cycle.

What comes out of the composting machine at the end of a cycle?

Pre-compost.

What can I do with the pre-compost from the kitchen composter?

1: Sprinkle in your garden, the microbes in the soil will break the pre-compost down further.
2: Feed to your worm farm. Our worms love it.
3: Throw onto your compost heap and not worry about attracting unwanted animals as the pre-compost has no smell.
4: Easy to store in a bin as there is no mess or smell and it is super light. Once your bin is full you can take it to your nearest green yard where the pre-compost will then get taken together with the garden refuse to an industrial composting site where it will get made into a ready to use compost.

Does the kitchen composter smell?

o, the composter comes with an activated carbon filter which eliminates 99% of all smells.

How often do I need to replace my filter of the kitchen composter?

With frequent use we would suggest at least every two months

Can I fill my composter with only oily food waste?

The food waste that goes into the bucket needs to be reasonably balanced as per the manual.If you find you have a lot of oily food waste to just make sure you balance it out by adding some bread crusts / pasta leftovers / rice etc.This will help to absorb some of the oil resulting in nice dry fine pre-compost
